Morgan Kelly threw Marian an 11-5 softball win over MMI in Foster Twp on Saturday.

On offense, Kelly scored two hits, including a 3-run home run in the park that allowed Marian’s 4-run inning for the fourth inning. In the circle she threw a full game on and hit 10.

Jackie Guth also had three singles for Marian and Anna Graboski two.

Grace Warner hit two doubles and one singles for the Lady Preppers. Irene Altmiller added a double and a single and Jackie Snyder singled twice.

Cealinn McGroarty had a great day offensively, leading hostess Lady Bears to victory outside of the league.

McGroarty tore a triple and two singles, knocked in five runs, and scored three hits in a three-inning win. Caitlee Kessock added a doubles and a singles, overdrawn one and scored once, and Meghan Macleary had two singles, and RBI and a run scored.

Macleary also won in the circle, scoring seven goals.

Junior Varsity Baseball Cougars sweep DH

Hazleton Area ended its season on a strong note, beating Abington Heights at either end of a double-header Saturday.

Josh Halcisak threw up a full game in the opener, scoring six goals as the Cougars won 2-0.

Antonio Doganiero’s RBI single was responsible for the first run of the game. Kevin Guzman later made it home an insurance run. CJ Serra scored both Hazleton area runs. He also made a perfect sacrifice.

In the nightcap, Doganiero, Nico Stancato and Mark Yanac tied for a goal as the Cougars won 8-0.

Eliud Lopez led the locals’ offensive with a triple and a double. Guzman and Axcel Gonzalez each caressed two singles, Jorge Tavares and Jonas Aponick both doubled, and Stancato and Josh Scholl broke off in one piece. Scholl also showed an outstanding defensive performance.

The Cougars finished 10-1.

Little League Valley West Herbeners 8 Goulds 5

Chris Knelly laced up a triple, double and single and showed a strong defensive play when Herbener’s State Farm took the win.

Taylor Rinker was single-player twice and Austin Roberts tripled for the winners.

Logan Hearity hit two doubles and one singles for Goulds. Santino Delorenzo doubled and Nicholas Kalce was singing.

Valley East Mets 12 Diamondbacks 8

Andrew Pedri drove for the Mets in two runs with a doubles and a singles. The brothers Owen and Nate Onuschak got involved with RBI singles.

For the Diamondbacks, Brady Williams hit a home run and knocked out three batters on the hill. Nick Albertson has been solo twice and Will Watt has excelled defensively.

Mets 12 Yankees 2

LD Ventra dominated the hill with 11 strokes and also served himself with a triple and a single for the victorious Mets on the plate.

Bella Boyle scored two runs and played well defensively for the Mets.

Gavin Serock was successful with three strikeouts for the Yankees. Michael Eckrote and Landon Rossi toasted singles.

Interleague HT Fire & Rescue 11 Freeland Legion 1

Mitchell Chicalese threw a one-hitter with 13 strikeouts and also dominated with four hits and six RBIs on the plate, which helped Hazle Township Fire & Rescue to victory.

Nolan Marsch also had four hits and scored four runs while racing two for the winners. Ed Kipikasa and Ethan Cabrera added base hits.

For Freeland, Aleeyah Blanyar knocked out 10 Batters and Chris Nocchi had a single.

The winning pitcher Jayson Henne tripled and Nolan Marsch set the table with a home run in the park for Hazle Township Fire & Rescue. Teammate D’onix Soto doubled in.

For Merrick’s, Joseph Ferrera, Landon Gliem, and Ethan Lagana were all individually.
